US Navy's Blue Angles 2014

US Navy's Blue Angels this past Memorial Day at Jones Beach Long Island New York. Blue Angles are the best flying team without a doubt . Always great to watch. This image was taken with a Nikon D3200 and 70-200 mm 2.8 lens. Processed in Lightroom. First reduced the exposure over all for the sky, then lightened the planes, increased the contrast and boosted the saturation with the radial filter. A simple process.

Portrait of Bishop Andrzej in St. Agnes Cathedral

Another portrait session with Bishop Andrzej in St. Agnes Cathedral Rockville Centre NY. Bishop Andrzej is so much fun to work with. He really is just a regular guy. Very easy and patient while we fuss with lights, exposures etc. He always gives us all the time we need. Never a rush job.

By the way the lighting here is first, available light in the church. A main strobe light (White Lighting) in a softbox (Photoflex) to our left, an accent light with a grid to our right, way to the right, slightly behind Andzej. Both lights were gelled with a full CTO Rosco filter to match the tungsten available light. Exposure was f8 @ 1/8th sec. ISO 500. Camera was Nikon D7100, lens Nikon 18 - 200mm set to 18mm. Processing of NEF RAW file in Lightroom and some retouching by Liz in Photoshop CC 2014.

You can see Bishop Andrzej's Ordination photos on our web sites www.lizjoeimages.com and www.lizjoephoto.com. Links to these sites are at the top of our blog.

Bishop Andrzej's Ordination March 24 - 25, 2014

Liz and I had the honor of being chosen by Bishop Andzrej to be his photographers for his Ordination on March 24 - 25. What a great time we had capturing the images of this very important occasion. We had the opportunity to meet his Mom, Sister and Niece from Poland. We also met his High School buddy from Poland. We didn't want to ask about any High School stories. It was also great to meet His Eminence Cardinal Edward Egan, Archbishop - Emeritus of  New York.

All of the photos from the two days are on our web site www.lizjoeimages.com if you would like to take a look.

More Excutive Portraits

Liz and I love doing these Executive Portraits. There is nothing worse than an Executive using a photo that someone took with a point and shoot camera with a garage door, bed sheet or some other junk in the background. The only worse thing than that is if it was taken with a cell phone. Now there is really nothing wrong with these two types of cameras in the hands of someone that knows how to properly edit them in Photoshop, Lightroom or some other pro software. Unfortunately the folks using these cameras have no idea how to use these programs and their subjects wind up looking like out of focus prisoners. Every Exec should have professional portrait ready to use at a moments notice
for a business card, brochure, web site etc.

Our business portraits are reasonably priced, professionally retouched and most of the time delivered within hours of being taken. Be sure to call for an appointment and look professional.

This is Kevin and Gail a married couple, both attorneys. We did their portraits yesterday. Their son will be getting married in the fall. We will be photographing the Wedding.

Another Excutive Portrait

We did this portrait January 22 of Susan. She is in Real Estate and needed a new picture for her business card, maybe a web site also. It was great working with her, and she says she's happy with her new photo. Good Luck Susan. Hope our photo helps to bring you much success.

Excutive Portrait

We did this portrait of David yesterday during the snowstorm. We were surprised that he didn't reschedule his session. He was a great guy to work with, and we all had a fun time during his session. He needed these two different looks with a tie change.

A Tree Named Tex

This is Tex. He's a tree in our backyard. He's cold, 8 degrees now.
Got to get the Snowblower out now. Then go to work.

Marine

This was our last studio sitting for 2013. We did a portrait session with this Marine and his wife. A fun couple to work with. Marines do have the best looking uniform. We give a 10% discount to military, fire and police.

Nikon Building Melville New York

This is my original photo of the Nikon building in Melville NY. Sorry Nikon it was shot with a Samsung Galaxy S4 cell phone. Some work in Photoshop correcting perspective, etc. Then processed in Photomatix to get color effect.

Below is the result of my experiment. Any opinions on this photo. There are many other results that can be achived in Photomatix, Topaz and other programs.

Another Album Restoration

Here's another Wedding album from 1951 that we have been asked to restore. This client saw the last album we did for her friend, loved it so much she brought her Mom's in. Glad to see these old albums have such great value. Here's what it looks like now. We will post the finished album as soon as it's done.

Restoring Past Wedding Albums

All of a sudden we have had a run on restoring past wedding albums. Nice to see folks still cherish their albums from the time before shoot, burn, put it in a draw and never do anything with it.
We just finished this one from 1957. It's really amazing how much wedding photography has not changed since 1957. All the photos in this album looked about the same as todays weddings.

Had a great time helping Johanly prepare for her upcoming Sweet 16, by creating a beautiful portrait for her sign-in board.
